I have been a member of the Green Party for over 25 years. During this time I have witnessed and been involved with its growing strength. The next few years are ones to capitalise on those successes and I believe I can play an important part in that.

I can bring a great deal of experience to the role of Chair, particularly in the important upcoming elections. I played a key role in the London GLA campaign in 2000 and following that I served as Management Co-ordinator on GPEx.
During this time there was no Finance Co-ordinator so I took responsibility for finance at the same time. I worked very closely with the Chair, sometimes substituting for her when the workload became too great. During this time we had one of our most successful general elections when our average vote share more than doubled.
My history as an active campaigner with the Green Party is extensive.
I stood as a candidate for both the European and GLA elections and achieved one of the highest votes in London. I served as Chair and Treasurer of London federation of GPs. Throughout this I have taken on all the jobs these various roles involve such as the writing of newsletters and election materials, organisation of materials and conferences.
I also bring experience in chairing other organisations.
I was a member of Council and Chair for a number of years with Tourism Concern (an organisation campaigning for human rights in tourism). I was also Vice Chair and Chair for 14 years of the World Development Movement (an organisation campaigning for justice for the world’s poor). During this time the organisation doubled in size and became a real force for change.
It has become apparent that, though we have many female elected members representing the Party, we have too few women involved with the internal organisation and working for the party. I would like to see more women represented internally as well as externally and would use my role as chair to support such a shift. As I work part-time as a lecturer in tourism and planning, I have the time and also the commitment the role demands in this vital election year.
